In honor of my birthday (today!) and the one year anniversary of my blog (upcoming), I’ve decided to run a little contest.
I will be giving away not one, but TWO sets of fine silver on steel bracelets. All you have to do to enter is leave a comment on this post that answers the following question – Who would you give a set of my fine silver on steel bracelets to and why? Maybe its your mom, your sister, your best friend, or anyone who deserves a nice treat!
The contest will run until Sunday, November 4. Next Monday, I’ll choose one lucky winner and send both you and the person you’ve picked a set of three of my fine silver on steel bracelets!
Presents all around! Happy birthday!

Happy Birthday! I’d have to say that I would give them to myself first of all because I love your work- AND it was my birthday this past weekend as well! The BIG one, 3.0. Scorpios unite! As far as who else, I would give 1 bracelet each to my buddies Cara, Kelly and Rachel- the best gal pals ever and organizers extraordinaire of the 3 day birthday event, otherwise known as “Sherrypolooza.”
How’s that?

Happy Birthday Megan! What a wonderful way to celebrate…there are many cultures in which the birthday person actually gives his/her guests or friends gifts. As for me, picking one person would be hard. Although, I wouldn’t want to divide them up because the bracelets look so gorgeous together! I would have to say that they would go to my good friend Saskia Moes, who is a fellow metalsmith, and adores steel. I can’t think of any other friend that would wear them, or appreciate them, better than her!
I hope you have a wonderful, fabulous birthday!!!

Wow, Happy Birthday!!! If I could give anyone your bracelets, it would be one of the other grad students in my program. Her name is Victoria Altepeter and she inspires me daily. I love her work and look up to her as a mentor. She encourages me and is helping me to gain confidence in my work. She makes the most beautiful and unique jewelry and would love your work. Actually I know she loves your work already!:) Happy Birthday again!!

Happy Birthday Megan! I wouldn’t feel right entering your contest since I already own a few of your fabulous bracelets, (I get compliments on them all the time by the way) but I did want to say congratulations to you for your fantastic article in Metalsmith about blogging, Etsy, etc. Very cool to read and definitely a necessary article. Also I saw that you will be presenting about those topics at the SNAG development seminar… kudos! I think it’s fantastic that you’re encouraging a convergence of craft generations and getting people involved in these very relevant dialogues. Happy b’day again and keep up the amazing work!

Megan, Happy Birthday and an early anniversary to your blog! My bestest pal, Mich, would be the lucky recipient of your bracelets. She is kind, empathetic, loves chocolate, and has been a great friend for 20 years. She rarely treats herself.
I have been loving your work since I first saw it at Cain Park last year. Great to see you continue to succeed.

Happy birthday, Megan, and best wishes for an even better year to come. I would choose to share the gift with my sister, who is going through a very rough time right now and could really use a pick-me-up.

Happy Belated Birthday Megan! I found your blog thru Metalsmith. I would share your gift with my friend Martha. She has been my(and others’) strength when I needed it and is a friend of the finest metal. She too would love your braceletes.
Love your work! Glad I found your blog.

Happy Birthday! I really love your work! If I won, I would give one to my Sister for her support and friendship. Steel reminds me of the strength we share as sisters, and the fine silver droplets remind me of how precious she is to me.

Happy birthday! I would give a set to my friend Andrea. She’s a great friend, very supportive, and ready to go the extra mile to help those she cares about. I recently found out that I have to have surgery and Andrea immediately offered to drop everything and come stay with me to help out if I need her to. That’s the kind of friend she is; the best of friends. Plus, I know she’d really love the bracelets. 🙂

Happy Birthday Megan I saw you mentioned on metalismith and etsy! Hope you had a wonderful birthday. I hadn’t visited this blog before but it’s motivation to keep mine up a little better. Anyway if we all go to Snag I will have to get some of your wonderful bangles for myself!

Happy belated birthday! It looks like things have been going pretty well for you. Maybe you got that Woodard chair for your birthday? It sure is beautiful.
There are a few people who are very close to me that I would want to give the bracelets to, but my top choice would be my sister. We weren’t very close growing up, but since she moved to Brockport we see each other a few times a week. I feel like we finally have the kind of relationship we’ve both wanted from each other and I’m saddened by the idea that she’ll be moving away next year. She’s the biggest fan of my work, consistently stays up with me on all-night printing marathons and works with me at craft shows (for free, I might add).

Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes!
Your comments are all so sweet, I wish I could give bracelets to everyone.

Happy Birthday to you!
Now to answer your question…my first inclination was that I’d give them to my sister…but then I said to myself that I already gave her a set of your rings that go with these uber cool bracelets for her birthday last month…and one can never be too matchy-matchy. So is it too selfish to want them for myself? It would be a special gift-to-self.

I would give the bracelets to my daughter, Brooke. She is bipolar and has made the commitment to forego her medication during the pregnancy and breastfeeding of her first child, and my first grandaughter, Olivia. She is expecting to deliver her daughter during the next week. She has coped well, riding out the extreme mood swings that are typical of her disease. I attribute it to her finally embracing art, after a lifetime of seeing how my own artistic endeavors have helped me cope with my own struggle with the disease. For the first time since her diagnosis, she feels in control, and knows that she can live a good and happy life. I would love for her to wear these bracelets to remind her of this beautiful and profound time of discovering her inner strength.

I love your plan to give a gift on your birthay. In return (as a gift) I invite you to visit the home of my jewelry loving soulmates, http://www.artjewelryforum.org. Sharing and wearing your bracelets with my dearest friend Katherine would symbolize our sisterhood — the durability of steel and preciousness of silver. She would be blown away by the story of how the bracelet came to her. BTW – Seeing how skillfully you have used the web to share your creativity is wonderful. Go for it!

Happy Birthday!
I’m really delighted to have found this and hopefully it is not too late to enter!
Two sets are an amazing gift! What a great idea. I just had a ‘give-away’ for my 100th purchase on Etsy. Though I’m afraid that I announced it when I was at the 98th so the build-up was a tad lacking. I based the surprise gift on her purchase (still a surprise as she has not yet received it- enroute).
So, for my entry! While 2 sets of 3 are Quite delightful- I think I *might* split them into 3 sets of 2 if I were to receive them.
*1st pair for me (!)
* 2nd for my friend Felieke whose birthday gift is shockingly (embarrassingly!) late. I found this wonderful fair trade, organic Swiss ‘health’ chocolate that was filled with women oriented botanical herbs- including rose oil for aromatherapy! Well, before I shipped them I got sick (stuck in bed sick)… ran out of food and ended up eating her lovely chocolates! When I went back they didn’t stock it anymore (niche item that they hadn’t restocked?)… & nothing else grabbed me. Well, these Would be perfect! She is a brilliantly clever jeweller who makes engaging work from plastic and textiles and I’m sure she would appreciate these.
* 3rd for my Aunt. There are many, many reasons she’d appreciate these- among them: She is a lover of black, simple, organic and handmade. These would be perfect. She has a birthday 3 days before Xmas and usually looses out on having gifts for both. And we’ve just discovered that her amazing, soulful, clever, warm, kind dog has cancer. Needless to say this is pretty devastating (doggies don’t have medical plans). It would be really nice to send her special treats.
