I have a confession to make. I actually took this photo a while ago, and well, let’s just say that this plant is no longer with us.
I’ve managed to keep a shocking number of plants alive in the last seven months in my journey from black thumb to certified plant lady, but I’ll be honest, they haven’t all made it. And while the old Megan would have chalked those losses up to my inability to keep ANY plant alive, it turns out I’ve also gotten wiser in the last seven months.
Now, each lost plant is simply a learning experience – I’m learning which plants do better for me and where. (This loss comes down to a probably too bright windowsill in a room without AC and I just couldn’t keep up with the watering.)
Of course, the other thing I’ve discovered in the last seven months is how much I LOVE plant shopping. Something about walking into a space filled with plants and dirt just soothes me. So now when I lose a plant, I’m just looking at it as another excuse to go buy more. (Not that I needed one.)
In fact, if you were paying attention in this post, you probably spotted that this adorable stripey Elizabeth Benotti cup is already home to a new plant – a succulent that I hope will do much better in that spot!
Oh, and in case you were wondering, the rings in the picture are my silver on steel stacking rings and you can get your own set in my online shop!
