I love to travel, but I also don’t believe that our best moments should only occur when we are traveling. Which is why whenever I take a major trip, I always ask myself what elements of that trip I can incorporate into my every day life when I get home. After my first trip to India, that meant putting down my phone and taking in the scenery more when I’m riding in a car, as well as bringing more color, pattern, and textiles into my home and studio.
For my recent trip to Nevis in the Caribbean, bringing the trip home starts with this robe.
Every room at Golden Rock Nevis comes not with boring old bathrobes, but these beautiful ikat kimonos. At the risk of getting too personal, I’m not the kind of person who likes to get dressed immediately after stepping out of the shower, yet I’ve never been a robe person. But this beautiful kimono changed all that.
Sadly, I couldn’t sneak this robe home with me (and I didn’t come across anything similar in my shopping on the island) but I was able to order something hopefully similar from Etsy when I got back. (Which arrives tomorrow.)
And until it arrives, I’m working on incorporating other moments from my trip into my daily life, like eating more fresh fruit at breakfast and filling my studio with even more plants to replicate that jungle garden feel! Because while travel is amazing and important, so is creating a life at home that you don’t need to escape from!
PS. I wish I could give you a source for this beautiful robe, but I can’t find it online. But you can shop the Volupte earrings and Fleurir necklace that I’m wearing in my online store!
