Back in the day (as in, before Instagram) I used to blog more about the things going on in my life. I kind of miss it, because it gave me a record of what I was up to, both in the studio and outside of it. So I’m making this post simply to share that, at the beginning of September, I spent a lovely few days at my friend’s cabin in the woods in upstate New York.
It’s super remote there – no cell service or Wi-Fi (just a landline) – and we couldn’t go anywhere else because of Covid, so that meant plenty of time for relaxing, disconnecting, reading, walking through the woods, and if I’m being honest drinking. (Because tequila in OJ is my favorite breakfast drink.)
The next weekend, that same friend and I went hiking a little closer to home. We hiked the ridge line up to an old abandoned excavator called The General. Part of me wishes I had taken more pictures of the details (because they were really cool) but honestly, I was too busy enjoying the moment to really think about pics. (I only took these because my one nephew is obsessed with excavators and I wanted to be able to send him the pics.)
I like to joke with friends that I don’t really do nature (mostly because I’m pretty allergic to it, in lots of different ways), but it was still nice to have lots of real life, non-screen time in the woods this month!
