Back in May, I bought this massive philodendron while visiting family in Delaware. And then I came home and had such a fun photoshoot with it. Partly because Patricia from Parima Studio and I are having a (joking) competition around photographing ourselves behind plants!
And while I posted a few of these images on Instagram, I never got around to posting them on the blog. If we’re being honest, it’s because right after I took them, I got frustrated with how much of the Internet has been overtaken by video and how little attention it seems still images get anymore.
But the truth is, over the last few years, I’ve fallen in love with taking pictures of myself as a form of promoting my jewelry but also as an art form in their own right. And no, that isn’t vain. I’m tapping into a long history of self-portraiture when I make images like these.
And regardless of what is happening on every other social media platform, my blog is still my space, which means I can still share what I want. Including images that are several months old, but that I really love.
PS. The ring I’m wearing is available in my online store!
