I don’t know about you, but I will pick a statement necklace over statement earrings any day. Maybe it’s because my hair length and face shape seem to make earrings tricky. Or maybe it’s because I’d like my earlobes to still be in good shape when I’m 60. Or maybe it’s because, at the end of the day, I’m just a necklace girl. Whatever the reason, when it comes to big necklaces, I can’t get enough.
But my preference for big necklaces over big earrings shouldn’t preclude me (or you) from taking part in this summer’s hottest trend: off the shoulder tops and dresses.
You’ve probably seen everybody and their sister wearing off the shoulder tops (especially on Instagram and Pinterest). And just because you haven’t seen a lot of people wearing them with necklaces doesn’t mean you can’t wear one. I’m here to set the record straight: you can totally wear a necklace with an off the shoulder top or dress. Necklaces are especially great if, like me, you’re a little broader on top, and you want to break up that wide expanse of skin.
So if necklaces are your jam, go ahead and rock one with an off the shoulder dress. I particularly like how the icy blue of the stone in this necklace and the pale blue embroidery in the shoes play off the warm, deep burgundy of the dress.
