I’m hard at work getting a new batch of Contra Collection necklaces ready to release in my online store, and this statement necklace has got to be one of my favorites. It’s an incredibly versatile (not to mention beautiful) piece, as these five ways to style it prove!

1. With a floral print kimono.
Kimonos and caftans are the new cardigans (at least in my book)! They add another layer to your outfit, and are a great way to infuse some color and pattern into your wardrobe. The scale of this pattern perfectly plays off this statement necklace for a look that’s artsy and chic at the same time.
2. With a t-shirt and jeans.
Tossing this statement necklace on over a basic t-shirt is by far the easiest way to style it, and it instantly elevates even the most boring look. Plus, why save this necklace for a special occasion when it’s comfortable enough to wear every day?
3. Layered over a patterned and embroidered top.
I have a slight obsession with pattern layering (it was even the subject of my MFA thesis!) and hands down my favorite way to style a bib necklace right now is over a patterned top. It’s seriously next level pattern mixing that shows the world just how skillful you are at styling. (Even if you’re not at all!)
4. Over a subtlety textured black top.
If you’re not quite ready for the all out pattern layering of the last method, you can work your way up to it by tossing a statement necklace on over a black top that’s got some interesting detail, like this openwork embroidery.
5. With a white t-shirt and peekaboo bra.
Visible bras are having a moment, and slipping a beautiful black lace bra under a white t-shirt is the perfect compliment to a black and white statement necklace.
