I’ve been reflecting a lot on my personal style since the one dress, thirty ways challenge, and if I could sum it up in two words, it would definitely be bold and comfortable. I want my style to be creative and interesting, but I want to be relaxed and cozy at the same time. And nothing in my description fits that bill more than this grey and black oversized striped dress. (Which actually made an appearance on Day 7 of the one dress challenge.)
I was reminded of just how much I love this dress when I wore it on the final day of a craft show I was at last weekend. Not only did I get a ton of compliments, but I was super comfy all day, even packing up the show and driving home. (Especially because I opted to wear it with a cute pair of sneakers.)
And while this dress is pretty fantastic on it’s own (it even has pockets), I think it’s even better when paired with the right necklace. And since I know it can be challenging to figure out what necklace to wear with a dress this bold, I thought I’d share three different options.
Option 1: the bold Contra necklace
I actually photographed these options on the day I wore this dress for the one dress challenge, so it was natural to photograph with the necklace I wore for most of the challenge. I definitely think this dress calls for bolder accessories, so the bold Contra necklace was a pretty obvious place to start. (And while I really love it with this dress, it’s not the clear winner in my book. But more on that in a sec…)
Option 2: an oval Contra necklace
More than once, I’ve opted to wear this dress with an oval Contra necklace. And while I still think it’s a solid option, it’s definitely not my favorite anymore. Personally, I think a dress this bold just needs something a little more, like…
Option 3: this Contra Composition necklace
This is the clear winner in my book! (And the same style necklace I wore with this dress last weekend. Though for these photos, I opted to showcase it with one that is currently available in my online shop.) Why does it work so well? The larger scale of the necklace stands up to the oversized shape of the dress, and the vertical orientation of the stones provides a nice point of contrast to the horizontal stripes of the dress. Plus, even though this necklace is the boldest of the bunch, it’s still surprisingly comfortable to wear! (Which makes it a win-win in my book!)
What about you? Which necklace would you opt for with this dress??
