I took these pics back in December when I was photographing some new Evident earrings, but somehow, they just didn’t feel right to share over the holiday season. Instead, I decided to hold off posting until January, because they definitely have a new year, new energy vibe that I am down for.
what I read in December
I’m a little late on my December reading post, but I didn’t want to just skip it, because my December reading list includes one of my favorite books of the year. Truth be told, I finished less books in December than just about any other month this year, but it wasn’t for lack of trying. I actually started A LOT more books last month, but couldn’t get through them.
And for that, I blame The Women I Think About at Night.
dressing up in comfort: floral midi skirt and colorful chain necklace
Since the pandemic started, I can count the number of times I’ve dressed up on one hand. (And I can count the number of times I’ve worn jeans on one finger.) It’s safe to say, I’ve fully embraced all things comfort when it comes to my wardrobe. I mean, my day to day has been pretty much running shorts, joggers, and leggings for years now (that’s what happens when you spend your days jumping between working in the studio and coaching high school cross county and track) but now that I’m going almost nowhere (thanks pandemic), it seems my comfy clothes are officially here to stay.
scenes from my studio (with chairs, plants, and colorful jewelry)
I spent part of the day today tidying my studio and caring for my plants, as it seemed like a good way to wind down heading into the holiday and gear up for things I want to work on in the new year. And I think this pic pretty much sums up the vibe in my studio – painted floor, metal chairs, plenty of plants, and rolling metal storage carts.
merry and bright (and matching)
Why yes, I did match my earrings and lipstick to the berries on this tiny faux Christmas tree. Thanks for noticing!
my new perfect bathrobe from Printfresh (and extra large red circle earrings)
Well, it only took me a year, but I finally found my perfect robe! Last year, when I went to Nevis, I fell in love with the gorgeous ikat bathrobe in my room at the Golden Rock Inn. And so after coming home, I made it my mission to find myself a perfect bathrobe to help me bring the spirit of travel home.
cultivate creativity with colorful chain necklaces
While in my studio yesterday, I started laying out some of my Modular necklaces for some projects I’mw working on for next year, and I couldn’t resist sharing some images here as well.
The Evident earrings: colorful handcrafted circle earrings perfect for gifting and everyday wear
The Evident earrings have proved pretty popular this holiday season (ok, and ever since I’ve made them) and I totally get why. I love them for every day wearing (yes, even if I’m just hanging out around the house) and they’re my go to gift item! So I thought I would put together a little video (which you’ll find below) sharing everything I love about the Evident earrings, including how they got their name!
3 color combos that prove two Modular necklaces are better than one
Last week, I shared a little video with four different ways to wear two of the Modular Necklace No. 2. But since I’m making the Modular necklaces in so many colors now, I thought today I’d share three different color combos that I’m loving when you want to wear two necklaces together. (I’m showing them each layered and long, but you can check out a few more styling options in last week’s video!)
in praise of a bold lip at home
If you’ve hung around here at all, you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of the bold lip. It’s like an instant shot of energy for your face. Seriously. I was once at the end of a very exhausting day at a trade show and someone asked if we could take a picture. I said sure, just give me a second to put on some lipstick. I turned around and she was in shock. “It’s like magic. Your whole face just got brighter!” Yup, that’s the power of a bold lip.
But sadly, with all the mask wearing out in public (which I am 100% in support of) wearing a bold lip out of the house not only doesn’t have any affect, it just seems kind of silly. (Also, lipstick on the inside of your mask. Ew.) Enter, the bold lip at home.
