I took this photo in my studio on election day. I was stressed and anxious and trying very hard not to look at the news, knowing that we wouldn’t have definitive results for days. While trying to stay busy in my studio, I happened to glance up at this wall and couldn’t help but just smile.
Modular statement necklace in Palm Springs, Part 2
I’m still trying to catch up on sharing pics of my newest necklace collection from my trip to Palm Springs, um, eight months ago. (What can I say, it’s been a long year!)
This was an outfit I wore to Alt Summit (the conference I was attending) while on the trip, and I love how it all came together, with another dress from my favorite India brand, Nicobar, a jacket from Madewell that I’ve had for years, and this Modular statement necklace, which I just love.
hydrangeas, a handmade vase, and stacking rings
In my quest to support my fellow artists and makers during the pandemic, it has occurred to me that I probably don’t need anymore mugs. So when artist Bri Larson released her latest batch of ceramics, I resisted the temptation to buy another mug and opted for this adorable little vase instead.
Modular necklace in Palm Springs, part 1
Way back in March, right before the world shut down, I spent a very lovely week in Palm Springs. And while I blogged some of my favorite scenes from the trip, I got distracted and never shared the images I took of some of my jewelry while I was there! So I’m going to take a few days and share them now. (Better late than never, right?!?)
what I read in October
fresh flowers and simple statement earrings
For the last few months now, I’ve been making it a point to regularly buy myself fresh flowers. It’s such a simple thing, but it makes for an immediate mood boost. On the same day I took pictures for my last post, I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures with this lovely bouquet that I picked up (thanks to contactless pick-up) from my local coffee shop.
blue and burgundy (earrings and rings) for fall
I’m finally finding myself embracing fall color palettes, and no color says fall to me more than this gorgeous Lush Burgundy! (You’ll find the Lush Burgundy stacking rings in my online store.) But I’m also loving it with Azure Blue, especially in these Rachel earrings!
#makethevote
A couple of weeks ago, when I mailed in my ballot (thanks to PA for making mail in voting so easy this year!!) I couldn’t help but make this little arrangement of tools in my studio to share on Instagram that I voted!
what I’m reading: Everything She Touched: The Life of Ruth Asawa
I’m a sucker for a good artist biography, and this book on sculptor Ruth Asawa did not disappoint. I’ve been lucky enough to see a number of Ruth’s iconic hanging wire sculptures, thanks to my many trips to San Francisco (where, thanks to living there for most of her life, she is best known), but I confess I knew very little about Ruth’s life or art beyond those. Which is a shame, because Ruth Asawa was a badass!!
new ceramics in my studio
I’ve been continuing my mission of staying home and supporting artists and makers online as much as possible this year. But I will admit I’ve been pretty bad at documenting it, which is a shame, because I’ve purchased some incredible art this year!!
So today, I thought I’d share two recent ceramics purchases on display in my studio. (With some plants and paintings of course!)
