This is what I saw on my run today. More cows than people. (But the view can be pretty amazing.)
coffee by bike
As I mentioned before, a new coffee shop opened within biking distance of my house. (I should mention that biking distance is about 3 miles one way – but in the country, that’s close!) Last week, I went in search of a totally spill proof mug for transporting my coffee by bike. Because I don’t like the hassle of the double lidded thermos, I settled on this travel mug from Target. Its too big to fit in a bike’s water bottle cage, but I clipped it to my backpack and it worked fine. Not a single spilled drop! Plus it kept my coffee hot on the way home (it was still steaming when I took the lid off).
Hopefully, Saturday bike rides to the coffee shop can by part of my weekly routine.

discarded dreams
I really love this illustration of the inside of a mattress for the Discarded Dreams Design Competition. The competition itself is pretty cool too – come up with a way to re-purpose the 40 millions mattresses thrown away every year. Hmmmm, seems to me there’s a lot of fun wire to play with in there…

furniture needed
More pressing than a new sofa, we really need a buffet for the dining room. I don’t think the folding table on bed risers is really cutting it. I really like this glass door cabinet from IKEA. I think its time to plan a trip. (Perhaps picking up some new chairs wouldn’t hurt either.)
behind the couch
We have a big expanse of wall behind the couch in our living room that I’m not quite sure what to do with. I love the idea of this shelving unit – its narrow enough to not take up room, but could be rearranged frequently. (Of course, looking at this makes me want a new couch too.)

coffee
I often complain about the lack of a Starbucks in my entire county, but happily this cute little coffee shop opened just a few miles from my house. (Totally within bike distance.) Yesterday I went with my mom and mother-in-law to check it out. Good coffee and the chance to support a local business, I’m so there!
cycling legends
I’m loving this poster by Copenhagen Cycle Chic. It totally embodies an idea I’m playing around with right now. (More on that later.)
And my apologies to anyone who views this blog through a reader and may have seen this post several times – technical difficulties.
