Well, we’re over halfway through February and I still haven’t shared my January reads. (What can I say, February has been busy!!) At this point, reviews probably aren’t happening, but I will say that I found every book I read last month incredibly interesting and useful. If the topic interests you, I’d recommend giving any of them a go.
Shop my recommended books on Bookshop!
I’ve spent many years sharing the books I’m reading here on my blog, but I also recognize that it’s a lot to sort through. And I also realize that not every book I’ve read and shared here on the blog is one I’d wholeheartedly recommend. So I’ve put together a store on Bookshop.org filled with all my favorite recommendations. If you’re interested in books about art, craft, and business, click here to check it out!
my newest book: The Artists & Profit Makers Guide to Email Marketing
In January I finished up a major project, the next book in my A&PM Guide series, The Artists & Profit Makers Guide to Email Marketing. This is the second book in the series. (The first is The Artists & Profit Makers Guide to Selling to Stores.) I didn’t intend to go an entire year between publishing books in this series, but hey, life happens.
what I’m reading: Making It in America
January has been a busy reading month (and it’s not even over) but I have so many thoughts on Rachel Slade’s Making It in America that I thought it deserved its own review. Watch the video below for my thoughts on why it’s a must read as well as a few critiques of the ideas in the book, including the privileging of “Made in America,” the idea of inherently good and bad jobs, and the ways that perceived value in the clothing industry is influenced by gender and race.
what I read in December
We’re halfway through January, so I should probably share what I’ve read in December. I only finished one book (it was a busy month) and I debated lumping this one into my January reads, but I’ve already finished four books in January, so I decided to let this one stand on its own. Plus, if it wasn’t clear from the video, I’ve got a lot to say on the subject!
What I read in November
We’re halfway through December and I guess it’s pretty safe to say book reviews aren’t happening! (What can I say, it was a busy December!) But here’s a list of what I read in November.
What I read in September and October
Well, we’re halfway through November so I guess I should actually share what I read in September and October! At this point, it’s unlikely that full-on reviews are happening, but I’ll try to add a few notes in case you’re curious!
What I read in July and August
I started off July hot and heavy with my reading, but then fell off the wagon a bit, which is why it’s a week into September and I’m only just now blogging my reads!
Megan in the garden with statement earrings, part 8
Sharing the pics with more dramatic lighting yesterday reminded me that I’ve still got images from my trip to Nashville last month to share! Like these, which are full of drama!
pop-up portraits with plants, part 2
One of my favorite things about taking portraits with plants in natural light is the way the shifting sun filters through the leaves, with the potential to create some serious drama. Right after I took the first batch of photos at my pop-up at the Arlo this week, the sun came out and gave me these more dramatic images!
