When I shared the necklace I made for my sister for Christmas, I also shared a few pics of her new dog, Toots. And I’m not gonna lie, my favorite thing about Toots is her black and white coloring. (Ok, she’s awfully sweet too!) So I couldn’t resist popping on a black and white Contra ring and some silver on steel stacking rings and doing a little photoshoot with Toots in my favorite color palette!
special necklace: crazy lace agate on a rose gold and steel chain
For a while now, I’ve been collecting stones, with the intent to (maybe) expand my line beyond the one stone in the Contra Collection. And while I’m not quite ready to bring those stones into my line, I couldn’t resist turning this gorgeous Crazy Lace Agate into the perfect Christmas gift for my little sister.
After all, it’s much more her color palette than mine! (Especially on a rose gold chain!)
working or relaxing?
Right now it seems like my social media feed is filled with people talking about taking time off and relaxing as the year winds down. And while I’m fully aware of the need for time off to avoid burnout (especially as a creative business owner) right now I’m too full of ideas to want to take time off. (And that’s ok too!)
So my current plan is to do a little of both – lots of time in the studio filling orders and working on new designs, punctuated with slow, leisurely mornings (sipping tea from handmade mugs and enjoying my silver on steel stacking rings) and get togethers with family and friends. I can’t think of a better way to wind down the holiday season and ramp up for the new year at the same time!
merry and bright
I couldn’t resist sharing just one more tiny faux tree this holiday season!
necklace layering: Contra pendant and sneak peek of the fringe necklace
Whenever I’m designing new jewelry, I always like to wear a prototype around for a while, to test it out and make sure everything is ok. (And that’s it’s comfortable to wear!) That’s definitely true for the necklace I shared in my last post. I’ve been wearing it with practically everything, and I’m obsessed.
So today I thought I’d share a sneak peak not just of me wearing it, but layering it up with a one of a kind Contra necklace! (And a plaid shirt.) I’m seeing lots of potential for layering with this new necklace!
studio sneak peek: new chains in the works
Sometimes when I lay pieces out on my workbench, I love the composition so much, I just have to take a picture! Which gives me a pretty good opportunity to give you a sneak peek of some new designs I’m working on for next year.
Ever since wearing this necklace around at NYC Jewelry Week, I’ve been thinking about what I can do with these tiny links and skinny chain to make them part of my production line. And while I’ve got LOTS more ideas to explore, I’m pretty excited about this first attempt.
my favorite way to wear a statement necklace
Last week, I shared this necklace with a black and white plaid shirt, which is a look I love. But the truth is, my absolute favorite way to wear a statement necklace (ok, really any necklace) is with a simple tank or t-shirt. (With a cozy, chunky cardigan thrown on top if it’s cold.)
I just love how the simple style really shows off the necklace, and how the necklace really elevates such a simple (and comfortable) outfit!
thumb rings, coffee, and Craft Boston
I’m in Boston this weekend for my only craft show of the season (and my last one for a while, as I’ll be back to focusing on my stores and online shop in the new year), and as has become my norm, I’m documenting my trip in rings and coffee.
But I can’t help it! My Silver on Steel stacking ring makes the perfect thumb ring and the perfect compliment to a pretty latte!
black and white plaid with black and white statement necklace
Sharing this black and navy plaid shirt the other day reminded me that I’ve been meaning to share these other images I took of this Contra Composition necklace with a black and white plaid shirt. (Maybe I didn’t share them before because I wasn’t having quite as a good a hair day when I shot it! But it was a studio day, so #messyhairdontcare)
While it’s easy to keep plaid in the fall bucket, I do love it for casual holiday style as well! Especially if your family gatherings tend towards more casual. A plaid shirt feels festive without being too fancy. (Of course, if you need to dress it up, you can always pair it with a midi skirt for a full on White Christmas inspired holiday look!)
#mugshotmonday: Elizabeth Benotti mug and silver on steel stacking rings
I shared this Elizabeth Benotti mug with an adorable faux tree (and with my most popular statement necklace), but I felt it deserved a #mugshotmonday post of it’s own! Mostly because I love this mug! And I love how it looks with my silver on steel stacking rings!
