Since I had so much fun creating portraits with plants on my trip to Nashville last month, I’ve been thinking more about how I can recreate that at home. (Since I’m all about bringing the spirit of travel home.) And while I take lots of portraits with plants in my studio, I realized that if I really wanted to recreate that lush, botanical garden look, I needed more big plants.
What I read in March
I’ll be honest. I read very little in March, especially compared to my usual reading pace. For whatever reason, my brain just wasn’t having words. (It was more interested in portraits with plants.) But there was one book I finished in March, and that was my new book!! Between final edits and recording the audio version, it’s safe to say I read through it several times.
neon necklace, t-shirt, and blazer
Last week I learned that t-shirts and blazers were a trend, which is funny because I took these pictures a couple of weeks ago when I was putting together the new necklaces in the studio! Apparently, I’m ahead of the curve! (Though if we’re being honest, I really put the blazer on because I wasn’t wearing a bra and the t-shirt was a little sheer. Which I guess makes this the ultimate work-from-home look.)
neon, mint, and silver necklace with yellow flowers
I’ve been noticing these yellow flowering bushes everywhere I go the last few weeks. (Don’t ask what they are, my expertise only extends to indoor plants!) So of course, I could resist taking a few photos with one and one of my new necklaces!
Trista in the garden, part 8
We’ve made it to (what I think is) the last post in the Trista in the garden series. (Unless I end up going back through and editing more photos, but I feel like I’ve really shared the best ones at this point.) When It comes to taking photos, I almost always shoot vertically. There are a few reasons for this. One is that people are vertical. Two is that vertical images tend to perform better on social media, especially Pinterest. And the third is that, when I’m photographing myself, it’s too much of a pain to keep switching the tripod.
But there are some places online where it’s nice to have a horizontal image. So when I was taking pictures of Trista, I did remember to occasionally rotate my camera. And the results were some of my favorite images of the shoot, especially this first one!
Introducing the Color + Metal necklace collection!
A few weeks ago, I was playing around with jewelry while I did a photoshoot in the studio (this photoshoot, to be exact) and I had a major AHA moment! What if I combined my colorful, powder-coated chain links with my Petite and Midi Modular necklaces in steel, silver, and bronze? The result is my new Color + Metal collection, and today I’m excited to announce that it’s now available in my online store! Click here to check out all the combos.
when your jewelry matches the plants
As we were leaving the Opryland Hotel, I spotted these gorgeous leaves and knew I needed to take one more round of pictures. I originally put Trista in this spot (you can see that picture in my previous post) but she pointed out how well my necklace matched the colors in the leaves, so, of course, I had to jump in. (In the case of the last photo, quite literally, as I practically climbed into the tree!)
Trista in the garden, part 7
I hope you’re not tired of my Trista in the garden series yet because I’ve got a few more images to share from our photoshoot.
pops of bright green (plants and jewelry)
I mentioned in my last post that I had Trista stand in this spot so I could check my camera settings because I wanted my picture here. I mean, how could I resist when the bright green leaves perfectly compliment my neon chartreuse jewelry?
Trista in the garden, part 6
If I’m being honest, this first picture might be my favorite from the entire photoshoot, and it happened by accident. I loved the background and wanted to take some pictures of myself there (which I’ll share in another post), so I asked Trista to stand in quickly so I could check my camera settings. The result of that quick test was this image!
