New Year’s Eve is one of those nights where I find myself jealous of my friends who live in warmer climates. Or anyone who lives in the Southern Hemisphere. Because while I always want to wear something fun like this, inevitably the fact that it’s cold wins out and I end up in jeans and a cozy cardigan. But a girl can dream, right? Maybe one year I’ll spend New Year’s Eve somewhere warm, and then it’s on!

I had grand plans to post some pretty fantastic party dresses here in the weeks leading up to Christmas. But then the Christmas craziness got to me, and I fell a little behind. But that shouldn’t stop me from sharing these fun outfits right? Besides, Christmas isn’t the only time to wear a fun dress, right? January is a great time to commit to upping your everyday style. Plus, post-Christmas sales are a great time to snag a cute new dress, and it’s silly to wait until next holiday season to wear it!

three books on art that are inspiring my studio practice right now

Now that the craziness of Christmas is over, I’m looking forward to a much calmer introduction to the new year. Truth be told, I’m hoping for some serious studio time over the long weekend. That’s partly because I can’t think of a better way to ring in the new year, and partly because I’ve been feeling incredibly inspired to work lately. Some of that inspiration comes simply from the gorgeous stones that have been piling up on my work table, but I’ve also been inspired by a number of books I’ve picked up over the last few months. I don’t know about where you live, but it’s starting to get pretty cold here in Pennsylvania. The news is even starting to throw around phrases like Polar Vortex again. And when that’s the case, the last thing I feel like doing is throwing on a dress to head out to a holiday party. (Because let’s face it, I doubt I own a pair of tights without holes in them, and I couldn’t tell you where they were even if I did.) But not to worry. This look would be perfect a more casual holiday party or an amazing New Year’s Eve night out. And while I’m loving the dark and edgy color palette of black and blue (which is mirrored in the necklace), I’m also loving the idea of throwing in an unexpected pop of rose gold in the clutch. It’s the perfect finishing touch to the perfect party ready outfit.
