how to make a summer floral dress edgy for fall
1/ leather biker jacket // 2/ floral dress // 3/ leggings // 4/ contra bib necklace // 5/ cross body bag // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ wedge bootie
When it comes to my own closet, I’m not really the kind of person who thinks in terms of “summer” or “winter.” (Maybe it’s because I’m not organized enough to put clothes away at the end of a season!) But this outfit proves that even pieces that feel particularly seasonal can be adapted for year-round wear. This summery floral dress becomes fall appropriate (and definitely edgier) when paired with black leggings, tough ankle boots, and a leather biker jacket.
my go-to outfit: fall weekend edition
1/ racerback tank // 2/ oversized cardigan // 3/ distressed jeans // 4/ contra bib necklace // 5/ cross body bag // 6/ mixed metal stacking rings // 7/ lea wedge booties
I’m not lying when I say this is pretty much what I live in. Distressed denim, an oversized cardigan, ankle boots, and a statement necklace is pretty much my ultimate look. I also have to constantly stop myself from buying more chunky cardigans and ankle boots, because my closet is basically overflowing with them! (Fortunately, I never have to stop myself from making more statement necklaces, since that’s my job!)
elevated and chic everyday style
1/ printed blouse // 2/ distressed boyfriend jeans // 3/ contra bib necklace // 4/ grey clutch // 5/ fenix smart watch // 6/ suede ankle booties
There’s no denying that are collective casual style has gotten increasingly casual. (I’m looking at you, athleisure.) But just because everyone else has gotten increasingly lazy in their everyday wear doesn’t mean you have to. A great pair of jeans can be incredibly comfortable, and when paired with a simple blouse and easy to wear statement necklace, you’ve got an easy everyday look that’s chic and stylish at the same time.
rocker chic work style
1/ blush biker jacket // 2/ cami top // 3/ wool trousers // 4/ contra noir necklace // 5/ knot clutch // 6/ curve post earrings // 7/ kaden bootie
I like the idea of taking rocker chic pieces and toning them down with a softer color palette. (Plus I’m loving the blush and gunmetal combo with just a few hints of black.) It’s totally unexpected and a perfect way to show your edgier side at work without being, you know, too edgy.
bold necklace and off the shoulder top
1/ embroidered off the should top // 2/ distressed boyfriend jeans // 3/ contra noir necklace // 4/ cross body bag // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ suede ankle booties
I realize it’s probably getting too cold for off the shoulder tops, but I just finished this bold, one of a kind necklace, and it would look totally stunning with an off the shoulder top! Plus, we have jackets and indoor heat, so maybe this look is fine even into the late fall. (At least, that’s what I’m going to tell myself! Anything to show off a great necklace, right?!?)
an edgier version of my go-to outfit
1/ black cami // 2/ lace kimono // 3/ grey boyfriend jeans // 4/ contra bib necklace // 5/ embossed clutch // 6/ black stacking rings // 7/ ankle boots
I’ve mentioned my go-to outfit here before: jeans, ankle boots, and a cardigan. This is definitely an edgier version of that, with grey denim (which I’m totally loving) and and open-toe ankle boots, which would be perfect for this week’s weather forecast. (We’re seeing some mid-October afternoons that feel more like early September.)
floral dress and ankle boots
1/ bell sleeve dress // 2/ contra bib necklace // 3/ rose gold watch // 3/ mixed metal stacking rings // 3/ high heel bootie
I love how a great pair of ankle boots can take a pretty conservative dress and make it much more fun and funky!
chic and edgy holiday party style
1/ marni jacket // 2/ crepe top // 3/ tulle skirt // 4/ contra bib necklace // 5/ foldover clutch // 6/ curve post earrings // 7/ leather ankle boots
I know, I know, it feels a little too early to start thinking about the holidays. (And I certainly don’t want to speed past Halloween, since it’s my favorite!) But the truth is, the holiday season affords opportunities for dressing up that I just don’t get the rest of the year. (Especially since I spend my days getting down and dirty in my studio!) So while I don’t condone Christmas decorations in stores in September, I think it’s never too early to plan what you’ll be wearing to those holiday parties!
What I love most about this outfit is how chic it would look at any holiday party, while still feeling a little edgy at the same time. I guess that’s what happens when I start thinking about holiday style in October – it’s hard to shake that Halloween influence!
floral kimono and flared jeans
1/ pleated cami // 2/ floral kimono // 3/ flared jeans // 4/ contra bib necklace // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ leather band watch // 7/ platform pumps
I may have gone a little overboard buying floral kimonos this fall, but I can’t help it. They’re a fun update on my standard cardigan and fulfill my need for layered floral prints this fall!
