Somedays, getting dressed can be hard, especially if it’s for work. But these eight simple outfits will have you feeling chic and ready to go with minimal effort!
simple everyday style: grey shirt, printed pants, and a statement necklace
1/ zipper back t-shirt // 2/ floral trousers // 3/ contra bib necklace // 4/ boyd handbag // 5/ curve post earrings // 6/ ankle boots
I love finding simple ways to make everyday style more interesting. Like swapping jeans for abstract floral print pants and topping the whole look off with a bold bib necklace. It’s a perfect look for when you want to show up and look chic without putting in too much effort!
midi skirt and moto jacket
1/ zipped moto jacket // 2/ pleated midi skirt // 3/ ribbed jersey tank // 4/ contra bib necklace // 5/ garmin fenix watch // 6/ mixed metal stacking rings // 7/ melody point heel
The other night I actually had a dream that I was running late for a function and pulled together an outfit very similar to this, with an olive green skirt and colored biker jacket. The outfit looked super chic, especially when I tossed on one of my bib necklaces to complete the look. And since I don’t have a skirt or jacket like this in my actual wardrobe, I figured I needed to pull the look together for my blog!
eight casual outfits perfect for a fall weekend
Break out the boyfriend jeans and ankle boots, because fall is here! From cozy sweaters to floral print blouses to oversized cardigans, these eight looks will have you craving Pumpkin Spice Lattes and falling leaves in no time.
casual fall craft show style
1/ printed blouse // 2/ boyfriend jeans // 3/ contra bib necklace // 4/ cross body bag // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ leah wedge booties
Last weekend I was in Washington DC for a craft show, and one of my favorite parts about doing a craft show is all the people/style watching I get to do. There’s nothing like watching an endless stream of people shuffle by your booth while you check out what they’re wearing. (Truthfully, I would rather scope people’s style in a city than watch a red carpet any day of the week.)
Of course, you wouldn’t have to wear this outfit to a craft show. It would be perfect for fall festivals, hay rides, brewery tours, or any other fall weekend activity you can think of!
yes you can… wear a statement necklace over a beautifully patterned coat
1/ cami top // 2/ collarless jacket // 3/ split front trousers // 4/ contra bib necklace // 5/ boyfriend watch // 6/ hue boot
The other night I was scrolling through the channel guide and noticed that Iris Apfel (my personal style icon) was on HSN. I flipped over just in time to catch Iris extolling the virtues of wearing a statement necklace OVER your jacket. That’s right! Over! And I couldn’t agree more! No need to cover up that gorgeous necklace up as the temperatures drop, just pile it right on top! (With so much happening in the necklace and coat, I opted to keep the rest of this outfit pretty simple. Though you could certainly add more color or pattern. As Iris always says, “More is more and less is a bore!”)
spooky florals for fall
1/ floral top // 2/ boyfriend jeans // 3/ contra bib necklace // 4/ skull floral clutch // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ heeled ankle boots
In case I haven’t said it before, I LOVE October! I love fall and tiny pumpkins and dark, moody colors and I especially love Halloween. I’m also loving these floral prints with the unexpected addition of skulls. They’re a perfect nod to the creepiest of holidays without being over the top or cheesy.
simple and chic professional style: wool midi skirt
1/ flowy blouse // 2/ wool midi skirt // 3/ contra bib necklace // 4/ boyfriend watch // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ garavani pump
This is a basic look that’s made less boring thanks to an interesting cut of the skirt and a bold, one of a kind bib necklace. Perfect for when you want to make a great impression around the office.
sneak peek: new contra composition necklaces
Jewelry is meant to be worn, and I always want to show how my jewelry (especially my larger statement pieces) looks on a real person before I make a new design available in my online store. But since that requires scheduling a session with my model, it means there’s sometimes a lag between when I finish a piece and when I finally get to share it with the world. And let me tell you, that can drive a girl CRAZY, especially when you’re as excited about these new necklaces as I am!
And since it will be a couple of weeks until I can get these one of a kind beauties onto my model, I couldn’t resist giving you a little preview of what I’ve been working on! Read on to view the new necklaces and be sure to join my mailing list to be the first to know when they’re available!
black and white maxi dress for fall
1/ knit cardigan // 2/ stripe maxi dress // 3/ convertible contra necklace // 4/ square frame sunglasses // 5/ black stacking rings // 6/ peep toe booties
It might be officially fall, but that doesn’t mean you have to put away your summer maxi dresses yet. Toss on a cardigan and some open-toe ankle boots and you’ve got an effortlessly chic look that’s perfect for a cozy fall weekend.
