It’s pretty common knowledge that if you invite me to come stay with you, I’m probably going to bring you jewelry. And I guess that includes plant jewelry now too! Last weekend I went to Delaware to visit my brother and his family and I couldn’t resist styling a few of my sister-in-laws plants with my new plant stakes!
Of course, it was a pretty even trade, because look at these gorgeous images my brother took!
I mentioned in this post how much I love how my new colorful metal dishes are letting me play with styling little vignettes. So today I’m back with another installment: a vanity display that plays on my love for all things teal.
One thing that has me really excited about my new colorful decorative metalwork is that it’s giving me an opportunity to style little vignettes around the house. Like this nightstand with some of my favorite things: dried eucalyptus in a Mod Home Ceramics vase, chunky glass beads I picked up ages ago in a shop in Venice, California, a few lovely books, and of course, a little metal ring dish and one of my favorite new copper bowls.
Today I’m going to let you in on a little secret. My current studio isn’t located in my house – it’s actually located in the old stone farmhouse I grew up in. (Which is about a mile from my current house.) And ever since I moved my studio to the farmhouse, I’ve been harboring a (sort of) secret dream – to fix up the house so that I can have small groups of artists and makers come stay for workshops and retreats.
I will no longer feel guilty for my book buying addiction. Instead, I now have a goal to work towards.

More pressing than a new sofa, we really need a buffet for the dining room. I don’t think the folding table on bed risers is really cutting it. I really like this glass door cabinet from IKEA. I think its time to plan a trip. (Perhaps picking up some new chairs wouldn’t hurt either.)
