Whenever I launch a new collection, it’s always a fun surprise to see what the best-sellers are. And it’s really exciting to see that, for the plant stakes, the early front runner for bestseller status is the five leaf double vine! This was definitely one of my more wild designs, so it’s fun to see how much people are loving it.
sneak peek of a new larger indoor plant trellis
In my last post, I mentioned that I was working on some new, larger plant stakes. So today, I thought I’d share a sneak peek of one of the biggest!
some thoughts on scale
I’ve been thinking a lot about scale lately. I think many artists and makers have a scale that’s comfortable to them. Sure, most of us can and will work at different sizes throughout our careers. But most of us also have an ideal scale, one that feels like home.
A simple stake for a trailing plant
It’s pretty common knowledge that if you invite me to come stay with you, I’m probably going to bring you jewelry. And I guess that includes plant jewelry now too! Last weekend I went to Delaware to visit my brother and his family and I couldn’t resist styling a few of my sister-in-laws plants with my new plant stakes!
Of course, it was a pretty even trade, because look at these gorgeous images my brother took!
staking my Hoya pubicalyx
I picked up this sweet little Hoya pubicalyx at one of my local plant shops and of course I couldn’t resist staking it with my new seven leaf arch plant stake.
Jewelry for your plants!
Let’s file this one under, why did it take me so long?!? A couple weeks ago, I looked at one of my plants and realized it needed a stake. The next thing I know, I’m in my studio, going off the plant stake deep end! I’ve been having so much fun taking my signature jewelry forms and turning them into plant stakes. (Or as I like to think of them, supportive jewelry for your plants!)
And because these are too good to keep to myself, you can get your own in my online store!
bowls in the bathroom in Desert Hot Springs
I mentioned in my last post that I spent the first week of February in Palm Springs, but the truth is I spent the first few days of that trip in Desert Hot Springs hanging out at Two Bunch Palms. That mostly meant lounging around in hot springs pools, but of course, I couldn’t resist photographing some of my colorful decorative metal dishes in my room, especially when I realized how well they matched the bathroom tile!
“class pictures” of the current batch of colorful copper dishes
There’s a ceramic artist I follow on Instagram who always lines up her pots after a successful kiln firing to take a “class picture.” And even though my new colorful metal dishes are made in smaller batches, I do love this idea. I especially couldn’t get it out of my mind as I was photographing the collection by size and type for my wholesale line sheet. So here are a few class pictures of the latest group. Don’t they look sweet?
Vanity decor in shades of blue and teal
I mentioned in this post how much I love how my new colorful metal dishes are letting me play with styling little vignettes. So today I’m back with another installment: a vanity display that plays on my love for all things teal.
The next evolution of my art: “painting” on metal bowls
My new colorful decorative bowls feel like the next logical evolution in my art. A way to tie in the abstract painting I’ve been doing on and off for the past nine years with my skills in metalsmithing. So of course, I couldn’t resist photographing one of my new bowls in front of one of my first finished abstract paintings. Especially when the colors match so well!
