I mentioned in this post that I was embracing color (and pattern) more in my personal (and brand) aesthetic. But after mulling it over for a while, I decided it was time to bring color into my jewelry as well!
And the best way to do that is through powder coating!
When I shared an update on my studio last week, I mentioned that the space was pretty messy. But I spent a few hours cleaning this past weekend, and after that, I did some rearranging on the far gallery wall.
You might remember previous versions of the wall from this post, this post, and this post. It’s the wall I can see as I sit at my work bench, so since it’s in my line of site A LOT, I wanted to make it something I LOVE looking at. That being said, I also didn’t want to rush into the space. I love that a gallery wall can be a living, breathing thing that I’m constantly arranging and playing with. As you’ll see in some of the detail images below, I even added a few more plants from when I took the overall shots to when I took some detail images.
I was looking over my Instagram posts from the last year (I blame the end of year/end of decade reflection madness) and couldn’t help but noticing 1. that it’s been almost a year since I had to relocate my studio and 2. how funny it was that I seemed to think I would have the garden studio fixed by now.
Since it has been almost a year since I moved studio spaces, I thought it was only fair to do another update! (You can read the last one here.)
I couldn’t resist sharing this little sneak peek of a necklace in progress on my work bench. The more I dive into the Essaint Collection the more I love exploring this feeling that I am drawing with wire. It feels like I’m taking all the drawing and painting I did over the summer and brining it back to my jewelry practice.
How gorgeous is this stone?!? It’s been sitting on my workbench for a while now and I am so thrilled that I got to turn it into a special, one of a kind ring for a fantastic customer!

This last month has been a busy one in the studio as I’ve worked hard on shipping lots of orders out to some of my favorite retailers. Above you can see a bunch of Contra Collection necklaces almost ready to ship out to the store at the Art Institute of Chicago.
And here’s a batch of earrings, including some from my new Essaint Collection, that I sent out to one of my long time stores, High Gloss in Houston:
I’m knee deep in prep for my next wholesale show (a pop-up at the Yotel during NY Now with five other jewelry designers), in case it wasn’t obvious from the disaster that is my studio. And even though I’ve still got some sample of my best-sellers to finish this week, I spent the last few days working on new earrings designs.
What can I say, these new statement earrings really inspired me to start playing even more!
A couple of months back, I shared that I had moved this chair from my MFA thesis into my current studio. What I didn’t share is that one of my big goals (that I could never seem to get around to) was to actually share both the images and text from my thesis on my website.
But finally, only 13 years after I actually completed my thesis, I have FINALLY published my MFA thesis on my website. I’m so proud of not only the work, but the research that went into this project, and it continues to inform not only the designs of my jewelry but how I think about the world to this day.

I really love the way these three paintings from my newest body of work look when grouped together. (Especially with a pair of plants in my Elizabeth Benotti planters.) I’m hoping to release this new batch of work into my online store next week, so if you have your eye on one of these paintings (or the whole group) be sure to join my mailing list!
I mentioned in this post that last weekend I went to Renegade Brooklyn to shop! (And to check on one of the members of my online mentorship program.) But that tiny planter wasn’t the only new piece of Elizabeth Benotti ceramics I brought home from the show!
I also picked up this gorgeous teal and striped planter. Technically it’s a hanging planter, but it looks so good on this shelf with my peperomia scandens that for now, that’s where it’s staying. It’s definitely a huge improvement over the boring plain white planter it used to live in. (Which you can see in this post.)
