What can I say? More of my paintings keep finding their way onto the walls of my studio. In this case, it was the addition of this new plant that prompted me to hang my painting Morning Reflections over my shipping station.
making a gallery wall with my tiny paintings
I was running out of room on my work table for the tiny oil paintings I’ve been making, so I started hanging some of them up. It turns out that tiny paintings are great for making a little gallery wall!
one more painting in my studio
After sharing how I was moving paintings around in the current studio, I came across another painting that worked perfectly in the blank space on the back wall.
So here it is! One final painting added to my studio! (Well, at least until I tackle those blank walls I haven’t even shared yet!)
more paintings in my studio
Since I shared one of the paintings in my studio, it seems only fair that I should take you on a visual tour of the others!
the painting behind the plants
I realized that in sharing the plants in my studio, I’ve been sharing lots of glimpses of this painting, but since it brings me so much joy (seriously, I love having it in my studio) I thought it needed a blog post of it’s own! (Especially now that it hangs out with the chair from my MFA thesis.)
studio plants and a possible Instagram break
Yesterday, I went to post the above picture on Instagram, then hesitated.
Why?
Because lately, I’ve been questioning whether it’s worth my time and energy to be sharing so much an a platform I (we) have so little control over. I even wrote an entire post about it on my other blog.
And of course, thanks to Digital Minimalism, I’ve already cut back my time spent scrolling on Instagram significantly.
an update on my studios
I mentioned before that this winter I had to temporarily move out of my studio so that we can repair the subfloor.
Of course, before we can do that, I have to clean out the studio! Lots of orders plus the winter blues have meant I’m a little slow to get moving, but this week I actually put in some serious cleaning time!
new peperomia plants for the studio
Last weekend I went to visit my brother and his family in Delaware, and my reputation as a budding plant lady must be growing (puns intended) because they suggested we take a trip to the local greenhouse for a little Sunday morning plant shopping!
And while I tried to keep my myself from buying too many plants, I did come home with a couple of new peperomias (which is rapidly becoming my favorite plant type) and a few new pots to put them in! I’ve been looking for a few plants to put under this painting on the far wall of my current studio, and I think this little grouping works perfectly!
stromanthe in the studio
I can honestly say that one of the best things I’ve done for myself so far this year is buy this stromanthe for my new studio. Sure, I’m loving all the plants I’ve been accumulating, but the stromanthe definitely steals the show. Any time I need a pick-me-up, I just need to glance at the beautiful foliage! (It’s especially helpful for getting myself through winter.)
studio sneak peek: new chains in the works
Sometimes when I lay pieces out on my workbench, I love the composition so much, I just have to take a picture! Which gives me a pretty good opportunity to give you a sneak peek of some new designs I’m working on for next year.
Ever since wearing this necklace around at NYC Jewelry Week, I’ve been thinking about what I can do with these tiny links and skinny chain to make them part of my production line. And while I’ve got LOTS more ideas to explore, I’m pretty excited about this first attempt.
