My trip to Florida gave me the chance to put some of my newer jewelry designs through their paces – like the Petite Madeleine necklace in silver!
my trip to Florida in an iced latte, four adult beverages, and a butterbeer
Ever since I went to New York City Jewelry Week last fall, I’ve been obsessed with documenting my travels by photographing what I’ve been drinking. (With my favorite silver on steel thumb ring, of course.) So here’s my trip to Florida to visit my sister, summed up in beverages:
the ring that got away
A few months ago (maybe more) I was having a bad day, so I headed into my studio and turned this stunning crazy lace agate into a giant statement ring.
go long. or doubled.
I always love when I can come up with a new variation on a signature design. Which is why I was so excited to drop the Shift Collection edition of the Lucy necklace. Longer than the Alice necklace, the Lucy is designed to be worn long, doubled, or even tripled! And it’s available now in my online store!
current obsession: pattern and texture (otherwise known as calathea leaves and silver on steel rings)
Ever since I started buying real plants, I’ve become obsessed with photographing all the intricacies of their leaves. Of course, that’s probably because I’ve been buying plants with as much variegation in their leaves as possible. But I can’t help it! I love that each leaf is like a little painting! (Especially this Calathea Fusion White, which I’m determined to do my best with, even though the Internet says it’s one of the hardest houseplants around and even though this one was a little beat up when I bought her!)
And I especially love how my new plants look when I photograph them with my silver on steel stacking rings! It’s like my thumb ring and latte art obsession, but to a whole other level. (Which is my way of saying, expect more posts like this in the near future!
my plant collection is growing!
If you know me, you’ll know that I’ve never been one to ease into a hobby. When I do something, I go all in. Which is why it shouldn’t be surprising that my desire to bring real plants into my life (and learn how to not have a black thumb) is quickly turning into an obsession.
But it’s not entirely my fault. As part of my quest to find my green thumb, I’ve been doing a lot of reading and researching about houseplants. And I learned two things: 1. I apparently like plants that require a lot of humidity. And one way to help them with that is to group multiple plants together to raise the humidity for all of them. And 2. There are a lot of really pretty plants out there and I want them all!
a new length for my most popular necklace
It’s no surprise that the Audrey necklace is one of my best sellers – this two tone necklace is an instant classic that is the perfect compliment to just about outfit. But I also know that, at 18″ long, not everyone loves a chain that short. Which is why I just introduced the Ellen necklace. It’s the same two-tone design as the best selling Audrey, but in a 26″ length that should be flattering on almost everyone!
And to show off this new necklace (and help beat the winter blues), I couldn’t help tossing on a colored shirt and photographing it in my new studio space with my new plant! That is one of the things I love most about my jewelry in general and the Ellen necklace in particular – it works perfectly if you’re dominant color palette is black, white, and grey, but it also works well if you’re ready to bring a little color into your wardrobe!
feelin’ the fringe
These week I released three new necklaces in my online store (ok, six if you count that each necklace comes in two different metal options) and I couldn’t be more excited. I originally came up with this design back in December before heading to Craft Boston, but both necklaces I made sold out at the show!
But now I’ve finally had a chance to get them into my online store! You can find them here! (This is the necklace pictured above!)
#fauxplantfriday: tiny faux succulent, handmade cup, and stacking rings
Just because I’ve started buying real plants (check out my last post to see what I’m talking about) I’m not giving up on my faux plants or #fauxplantfriday. Mostly because I’m a girl who likes a backup plan, and faux plants will never die! (Not to mention, they are super fun to swap in and out of my favorite Elizabeth Benotti cup! Especially while wearing my silver on steel stacking rings!)
Saturday plant shopping: calatheas, coffee, and thumb rings
I know I joked in my last post that I was off to buy plants on the Internet, and while I do still have my eye on a few, I actually decided to head to a real greenhouse on Saturday and came home with a few new plant babies of my very own. So be prepared to see lots more plant pics in the near future. (Most likely accompanied by my silver on steel rings.)
