I still have plenty of images of the black and white dress to share, but today I thought I’d switch gears and share a different look. I didn’t intend for this to be a full-on portrait series (remember when I wondered if there was such a thing as a selfie blogger?) but these pictures just showed off my Contra collection ring so well, I couldn’t resist sharing them all!
Megan in the garden with statement earrings, part 2
I mentioned in my last post that I’ve got some images in the garden that I’m really excited to share and here they are! (Ok, I’ve got a lot more than this! But I didn’t want to wait anymore to share these!) When I knew I was going to take pictures on my trip to Nashville, I knew I had to wear my favorite black and white dress! And I’m so glad I did! The patterns on the dress combined with these massive monstera leaves are just perfect! And of course, I couldn’t resist pairing it with some earrings from my Chroma collection!
Megan in the garden with statement earrings, part 1
Back in March, I went to Nashville to visit my cousin Trista and took a bunch of photos of her modeling my jewelry in the gorgeous gardens of the Opryland Hotel. (I took a few of myself as well!) Well, this past week I was back in Nashville for Trista’s wedding. Since Trista was a little busy, I decided to take myself to the gardens to get some pics of my new Chroma Collection earrings. (With a little assist from my husband, who acted as my human tripod!) That means I’ve got A LOT of pics to share over the next week or so!
Chroma earrings in dusty rose and radiant orchid
One of the things I love most about my new Chroma collection is that it combines my love of painting and my love of jewelry, so I couldn’t resist photographing some of the new earrings in front of one of my paintings!
Introducing Chroma: my newest jewelry line!
On my drive down to Delaware last weekend, I was listening to one of the books that never fails to inspire me, Ross’s King’s Mad Enchantment: Claude Monet and the Painting of the Water Lilies, when I was hit with a sudden burst of inspiration. I could take the colorful metal bowls I’ve been making over the last couple of years (the ones that combine my love of metalsmithing and my love of painting) and turn those into jewelry featuring my signature leaf shapes!
I immediately hit the studio when I got home on Tuesday, and the result is my newest collection, Chroma!
one necklace, three ways
One of my favorite things about the Modular Collection is how versatile it is. The different elements in the collection are designed to be linked together in endless combinations.
portraits with a palm tree
Since I had so much fun creating portraits with plants on my trip to Nashville last month, I’ve been thinking more about how I can recreate that at home. (Since I’m all about bringing the spirit of travel home.) And while I take lots of portraits with plants in my studio, I realized that if I really wanted to recreate that lush, botanical garden look, I needed more big plants.
neon necklace, t-shirt, and blazer
Last week I learned that t-shirts and blazers were a trend, which is funny because I took these pictures a couple of weeks ago when I was putting together the new necklaces in the studio! Apparently, I’m ahead of the curve! (Though if we’re being honest, I really put the blazer on because I wasn’t wearing a bra and the t-shirt was a little sheer. Which I guess makes this the ultimate work-from-home look.)
neon, mint, and silver necklace with yellow flowers
I’ve been noticing these yellow flowering bushes everywhere I go the last few weeks. (Don’t ask what they are, my expertise only extends to indoor plants!) So of course, I could resist taking a few photos with one and one of my new necklaces!
Trista in the garden, part 8
We’ve made it to (what I think is) the last post in the Trista in the garden series. (Unless I end up going back through and editing more photos, but I feel like I’ve really shared the best ones at this point.) When It comes to taking photos, I almost always shoot vertically. There are a few reasons for this. One is that people are vertical. Two is that vertical images tend to perform better on social media, especially Pinterest. And the third is that, when I’m photographing myself, it’s too much of a pain to keep switching the tripod.
But there are some places online where it’s nice to have a horizontal image. So when I was taking pictures of Trista, I did remember to occasionally rotate my camera. And the results were some of my favorite images of the shoot, especially this first one!
