As I mentioned in this post, thanks to my trip to New York last week, I’m currently obsessed with wearing my silver on steel stacking rings as a thumb ring.
holiday happy: tiny faux trees and handmade ceramics
It’s quite possible I have an addiction to tiny faux trees and handmade ceramics. But I won’t apologize for either of those! Just know you’ll be seeing a lot of both around here in the coming weeks! (Not to mention my silver on steel stacking rings. I’m pretty much addicted to those as well right now!)
my trip to New York City Jewelry Week in five cups of coffee, one thumb ring, and a couple of cocktails
I just got back from a few days in New York City for the first annual NYC Jewelry Week. And while I was certainly there for work (lots of networking, research, and inspiration gathering happening) it was the first time in a long time that I’ve been to the city where I haven’t been tethered to a trade show of some sort.
So I spent a fair amount of time wandering the city, taking in lots of great jewelry, and drinking plenty of coffee. Technically, they were lattes. Don’t judge, it snowed a lot while I was there. (And it’s only the middle of November!)
And all that coffee drinking and wandering gave me time to develop my new jewelry obsession: wearing one of my silver on steel rings as a thumb ring. Because it turns out that, if you’re constantly holding things, wearing a ring on your thumb is the best way to get to see it and enjoy it the most. (And it certainly makes for some Instagram worthy snaps.)
yes, you can… wear a statement necklace in the studio!
For me, one of the highest compliments is when other artists buy my jewelry. Because, personally, I think there’s nothing more awesome than a badass artist rocking a statement necklace while working in the studio! And to prove it, I pulled on my own painting apron and snapped a few pics while wearing the Vivian necklace!
it’s beginning to look a lot like…
So I have to admit that, while I don’t love how early holiday stuff ends up in stores, I have no shame when it comes to decorating my house for the holidays already. Especially when it involves putting cute little faux trees in my stripy Elizabeth Benotti cup. (And rocking my silver on steel stacking rings with it!)
#mugshotmonday: Bella Joy Pottery and silver on steel stacking rings
In case you aren’t familiar, #mugshotmonday is a hashtag on Instagram where potters and ceramic artists share their mugs. And while I’m not a potter (clay is too squishy, I’ll stick to metal, thanks) I am an avid collector of handmade ceramic mugs! So I decided that #mugshotmonday would be a good way to show off some of my favorites from my own collection, give a shoutout to some of my favorite makers, and show you how well handcrafted ceramics pair with my own handcrafted rings!
I mean, can’t you just imagine sipping your daily dose of caffeine from this lovely Bella Joy Pottery mug while rocking your silver on steel stacking rings?!
Megan Auman bracelet + Chikahisa ring
I thought I’d wrap up August by sharing one more pic from my trip to New York earlier in the month. One of my favorite parts of showing with other jewelry designers is seeing how my work plays with others! I especially love how my silver on steel bracelet looks with this Chikahisa Studio ring!
new necklaces in New York City
August has been such a whirlwind that I’m only now getting around to blogging about some of my travels! In the middle of the month, I spent a couple of days in New York City, showing my jewelry to wholesale buyers with a lovely group of fellow jewelry designers.
And even thought I was home for basically twelve seconds in the first half of August, I couldn’t resist designing a few new necklaces for the trip.
the perfect pairing: silver on steel stacking rings and handmade ceramic mug
Thinking about fall yesterday made me want to cozy up with a cup of tea in a handmade mug. Especially when I’ve got a gorgeous handmade mug by Elizabeth Benotti that pairs so perfectly with my new silver on steel stacking rings! Which are available now in my online store!
Is it sweater weather yet? A grey cardigan and my favorite casual jewelry combo.
This was a crazy month, but one of my favorite parts was heading to San Francisco for a few days. While I always love SF, I was especially happy to trade in the heat and humidity of Central PA summers for jeans, cardigans, and my favorite military jacket.
And now that August is heading for a close (and I’m back in the heat), I’m finding myself wistfully dreaming of sweater weather. In particular, I’m thinking about all the fun jewelry combos I can bring into fall, like the way my favorite casual summer combo (of a Contra pendant and giant circle earrings) works so well with a cozy cardigan.
