I’ve been on a bit of a neon kick, whether that’s plants or my new neon hoop earrings. So when NickiChicki rolled out these neon knit hats, I was more than a little excited. (Especially because I already own several of her hats.) I was a little worried that I wouldn’t have a chance to wear it this spring, but a few unseasonably cold days (plus coaching track outdoors) means I’ve been able to rock this hat on more than one occasion!
one of a kind agate necklace for a friend
Sometimes it’s nice to take a break from work and make something just for fun. Last week was my friend’s birthday, and so I decided to turn this gorgeous one of a kind agate into a necklace for her!
a Contra statement necklace (and rings) on and off the body
Last week, I did a photoshoot to accompany this post on my other blog, and I had so many images I loved I decided to share a few here, because in trying to convey a feeling of love for your work, I was truly reminded of how much I love the work from my Contra Collection!
work from home style: black jumpsuit and the botanically-inspired Ada pendant
I will admit that, ever since the pandemic started, my work from home style has gotten even more casual. So in an effort to get myself out of a bit of a style rut, I decided to revisit one of my favorite pieces from my wardrobe – my black linen jumpsuit.
a new necklace/wall hanging in progress (inspired by Calder and one of my favorite plants, monstera adansonii)
Ever since I started creating designs for my new Ada collection, I’ve had a vision of creating a necklace that wraps around as an homage to the plant that inspired it, Monstera Adanonii. Last week, I started work on that very necklace!
a new jewelry collection inspired by one of my favorite plants: monstera adansonii
Of all the plants I’ve added into my life over the last two years, one of my absolute favorites is Monstera Adansonii, otherwise known as the Swiss Cheese Vine. I’m obsessed with this sprawling vine and the holes that form in the leaves, it’s such a visual delight – so it’s no surprise that it would make its way into my jewelry.
My new Ada collection features wire shapes I’ve hand formed and welded and then powder coated in a few of my favorite colors!!
creative casual work from home style: t-shirt and top knot with a Matisse-inspired necklace
The longer the pandemic goes on, the more casual my style seems to get. But that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to feel cute and creative at home. That’s why I love simple, comfortable solutions, like a top knot, bold lip, and a comfortable necklace that totally pops on Zoom.
bold jewelry to beat the winter blues
With winter still in full swing in Pennsylvania, and since I can’t go somewhere warm, I’ve been turning to my studio for comfort! The first thing to come out of my recent studio time was a new batch of blue jewelry!
wearing my “pearls” in honor of Madam Vice President, Kamala Harris
I don’t own pearls (I know, what kind of jewelry designer doesn’t have pearls?!? This one apparently!) but I’ve always thought of my Contra Composition necklaces as “a more badass pearl necklace” so that’s what I’m going with today. I wish I had something more profound to say on this historic day, but words are escaping me. (But you can read the essay I wrote last summer on the ways I see myself in Kamala Harris, or as we can now officially call her, Madam Vice President.) Instead, I’ll just say this: I’m very glad I took these pictures before the ceremony started, because I bawled my eyes out during!
new year, new (headshot) energy
I took these pics back in December when I was photographing some new Evident earrings, but somehow, they just didn’t feel right to share over the holiday season. Instead, I decided to hold off posting until January, because they definitely have a new year, new energy vibe that I am down for.
