It’s only December 6th but I’ve already watched three Christmas movies. And given how much time we’re already going to be spending at home this holiday season, we’ll all probably be watching a lot more. The three movies I’ve watched so far definitely hit different moods, so I thought I’d round them up here to help you find your next holiday watch.
lilac season and green stacking rings
I just love lilac season, and if I was pressed, I would probably say lilacs are my favorite flower. (Though it would be by the narrowest of margins.) It’s the smell that gets me. I grew up with lilac bushes and it’s one of the first scents I ever remember loving.
striped vase, stacking rings, and spring florals
One of my goals during this crazy time is to buy as much art as I possible can. I know how stressful financial uncertainty can be for artists (ok, for everyone, but it’s especially hard on creatives) and since I’ve had a great response to my new stacking rings, I want to help share the love!
I’ve had my eye on this Elizabeth Benotti vase for a while now, and finally decided to was time to scoop it up before someone else did! And I’m happy to report it’s even more stunning in person! As soon as I opened it, I knew I need to fill it with lilacs, daffodils, and irises from my garden!
my new colorful stacking rings can handle handwashing
With all the added emphasis on hand washing right now, it was only a matter of time until a bar of soap became the subject of my Megan Holds Things series. Especially because I had such a pretty bar of soap, one of the many extra bars I’ve swiped from hotels in my travels over the years. (Something that’s paying off big time now!)
in the mood for monochrome: handmade mug and stacking rings in Faded Teal
I have all these grand plans to photograph the new stacking rings in lots of different color combos! But for now, I’m really digging the monochrome vibe, so I’m sticking with it!
Handmade mug is by Bell Joy Pottery and stacking rings in Faded Teal are available now in my online store!
new mugs to match my new blue stacking rings
Like most people, I’ve been confined to online shopping these days. So far, most of my online shopping has consisted of nail polish (I’ve got to coordinate with my new colorful rings!) and handmade ceramics. I’ve been a pretty avid ceramics collector the past few years, and I’m trying to do my part now to help support my fellow artists. (Not that I really needed an excuse!)
Luckily, some of my favorite ceramic artists have been crushing it lately with gorgeous new work. And even better still, I loved how when I pulled my new Bella Joy Pottery (above) and Briggs Shore Ceramics (below) mugs out of their boxes, they just happened to perfectly match my nails and new stacking rings!
shades of grey (stacking rings)
Now that I’m making new colorful stacking rings, I’m excited about all the photo opportunities they provide. But as I was scouring my props and nail polish stash, I realized that I mostly own things that are grey. Like these grey M&Ms my friend got me for my birthday and that I’ve been saving for the perfect photoshoot opportunity. (Looks like I found it!) So until I can get my hands on some more colorful props and some different shades of nail polish, I’m leaning into the grey thing. Luckily, I’m pretty obsessed with the new grey stacking rings. (And can you blame me?!? If you’re as obsessed as I am, you can grab your own set in my online store!)
(Side note: if you’ve ever wondered about the grey vs. gray spelling thing, grey with an E is the British spelling and gray with an A is the American version. So technically, since I’m in the US, I should spell it gray, but I just really like the E spelling better, so I’m sticking with it!)
#mugshotmonday: Bella Joy Pottery and colorful chain bracelets
I’m always amazed by how what I’m focusing on in the studio can shift my attention. Right around the time I started making my new colorful jewelry, I noticed that Heidi of Bella Joy Pottery was playing around with lots of new colorful mugs. The truth is that Heidi’s work as always been really colorful, I just happened to gravitate towards her black and neutral mugs.
But as my colorful jewelry line coincided with a craving for color throughout my life, I was totally drawn to Heidi’s new work. So I bought myself this beautiful mug. (And I’d be lying if I said I haven’t bought a few more since!) I just love how well it plays with the colors in my new bracelets!
daffodils in the studio (and new bracelets on my wrist!)
I decided that this spring is going to be the year where I bring more cut flowers from my garden into the studio to enjoy there. That’s partly because my allergies make it hard to enjoy them outside, partly because they’re just beautiful in the studio, and partly because it lets me do fun photoshoots like this:
a weekend in Southern Delaware with coffee, beer, and my silver on steel thumb ring
This weekend I went down to Southern Delaware to visit my brother and he suggested we check out the new Rise Up Coffee Shop in Rehoboth Beach, and of course I couldn’t resist snapping a pic or two in front of their great black and white walls.
