I have to confess that I find it hard to leave the house without a necklace on. I just feel so naked! But with summer’s relentless heat, some days my usual big statement necklaces just feel like a little much. Which is why I’ve been wearing a Contra pendant a lot this summer! It’s a simple and easy to wear pendant that still packs big impact. And not only does it work well for summer, you can style it with classic fall looks as well, as these eight outfits prove! Read on for eight ways to style a one of a kind Contra pendant:
casual fall style
1/ sleeveless shirt // 2/ long cardigan // 3/ boyfriend jeans // 4/ large contra pendant // 5/ foldover clutch // 6/ mixed metal stacking rings // 7/ mina boots
As I start dreaming about fall, I’m dreaming about endless variations on my go-to outfit – jeans, ankle boots, and a cardigan. This version keeps things easy and casual with flat boots and a simple tank underneath.
outfit remix: chic in a skirt
1/ trench coat // 2/ flared panel skirt // 3/ wrap front top // 4/ contra necklace // 5/ crossbody bag // 6/ curve post earrings // 7/ suede ankle boots
The other week I shared some inspiration for how to look chic in shorts. But if shorts aren’t your thing (or you’re just looking to transition that look into fall) this option with a skirt is equally chic!
plaid and fancy for fall
1/ tux plaid shirt // 2/ long grey cardigan // 3/ boyfriend jeans // 4/ contra pendant // 5/ boyd purse // 6/ lace up d’orsay flats
This is the point in summer where I start to dream about fall. It’s not that I don’t love summer. It’s just that cooler temperatures bring so many more style opportunities, with all the possibilities for layering. This look epitomizes fall, plaid, and cooler weather, and manages to be casual and chic at the same time.
casual and chic summer style: floral print pants
1/ sutton top // 2/ printed pants // 3/ contra pendant // 4/ lafayette hobo bag // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ woven sandals
Pants like these are a great way to add some excitement to a fairly basic outfit. The dark floral print gives the look some pop, while still remaining casual and comfy. Perfect for a summer picnic or a day of brunch and shopping!
outfit remix: black and white striped maxi skirt and black top
1/ cropped crepe top // 2/ wrap around maxi skirt // 3/ contra pendant // 4/ convertible clutch // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ espadrille wedge sandals
What I love about maxi skirts is just how versatile they can be. The other day I styled a super casual outfit featuring a black and white maxi and black top, but I also love how a maxi skirt can be used for a much fancier look. In this case, I opted for a black and white striped maxi with a little more fullness and detail, paired it with a dressier black top, and added wedges instead of flats. It’s the same basic idea as this other look, just taken to a whole other level.
simple party style
1/ chiffon shift dress // 2/ tassel kimono // 3/ bold contra necklace // 4/ envelope clutch // 5/ two-tone pumps
When your everyday style is fairly casual, it can be a little stressful when you have to get dressed up. This outfit is one of my favorite solutions for feeling fancy while keeping things simple – I simply go for a basic dress (in a silhouette that works for me) and toss on a the biggest Contra necklace I have. A pair of classic heels and a cardigan in case it gets chilly complete the look. (Though truthfully, if heels aren’t your thing, you could get away with flats. Everyone’s going to be looking at your necklace anyway!)
urban floral
1/ sleeveless tank // 2/ floral jacket // 3/ embroidered midi skirt // 4/ contra pendant // 5/ boyd purse // 6/ mixed metal stacking rings // 7/ open toe booties
This outfit combines a lot of pretty feminine elements – an eyelet skirt, pale pink top, and floral print – but in a totally urban, edgy way, thanks to the cut of the jacket and the addition of some great chunky black leather heels.
outfit remix: embroidered little black dress for summer
1/ embroidered smock dress // 2/ contra statement necklace // 3/ straw clutch // 4/ woven strap sandals
I love how one outfit can inspire another. This outfit remix was inspired by another perfect little black dress for summer, but takes that dress’s subtle embroidery and makes it a distinctive element. I also swapped the single Contra necklace for a Contra statement necklace, because I’m a sucker for a big statement necklace layered over a patterned top. It’s next level pattern mixing that’s actually super easy to pull off!
summer date night
1/ ruffled georgette top // 2/ distressed boyfriend jeans // 3/ contra pendant // 4/ metallic straw clutch // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ leather espadrilles
At it’s core, this is a pretty basic outfit. (Just jeans and a tank, which is pretty much always my go-to look.) But thanks to a fun print and ruffles, not to mention tossing on a pair of wedges, this whole outfit feels just fancy enough for a special summer date night.
