Feeling stuck in a rut when it comes to summer date night outfit ideas? From maxi dresses to midi skirts and chic white pants to off the shoulder dresses, these eight outfits will have you feeling inspired for all those long summer nights.
how to wear a summer dress into fall
1/ chambray shirt // 2/ a-line dress // 3/ curve post earrings // 4/ contra pendant // 5/ buckle strap bag // 5/ julina booties
A simple dress is one of summer’s easiest styling tricks. You can keep comfortable in the heat and look put together at the same time. But as temps start to drop, there’s no reason to retire those summer dresses to the back of your closet. Instead, extend summer dress season by tossing on a chambray shirt or denim jacket and a pair of ankle boots. Take it even further into the year by tossing on a pair of tights, and suddenly you can justify scooping up a few more summer dresses at the end of the season when they go on sale!
chic summer style
1/ v-neck tank // 2/ wide leg pants // 3/ contra pendant // 4/ square frame sunglasses // 5/ straw clutch // 6/ leather flat sandals
There’s nothing that says chic summer style to me like a light colored pair of pants, especially when paired with classic navy and touches of grey.
casual weekend style
1/ fight or flight tank // 2/ blanket stitch cape // 3/ slim boyfriend jeans // 4/ large contra pendant // 5/ woven ombre clutch // 6/ mixed metal stacking rings // 7/ flat buckle sandals
I love the combo of grey and cream – it’s a subtler version of grey and white that’s perfect for more casual, relaxed looks! This outfit is perfect for a late summer weekend, just toss on the cape (which is basically a giant blanket scarf – an ideal fall staple) for cooler evenings or air conditioned restaurants!
summer style: pleated midi skirt
1/ wrap front top // 2/ stripe pleated midi // 3/ contra pendant // 4/ faye clutch // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ t-strap sandal
While I might be dreaming of fall fashion, we’re still stuck in a very hot, mid-August heat wave. This outfit is ideal for looking crisp and cool on a very hot day, and would be perfect for brunch or a summer party.
casual and chic summer style: floral print pants
1/ sutton top // 2/ printed pants // 3/ contra pendant // 4/ lafayette hobo bag // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ woven sandals
Pants like these are a great way to add some excitement to a fairly basic outfit. The dark floral print gives the look some pop, while still remaining casual and comfy. Perfect for a summer picnic or a day of brunch and shopping!
outfit remix: black and white striped maxi skirt and black top
1/ cropped crepe top // 2/ wrap around maxi skirt // 3/ contra pendant // 4/ convertible clutch // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ espadrille wedge sandals
What I love about maxi skirts is just how versatile they can be. The other day I styled a super casual outfit featuring a black and white maxi and black top, but I also love how a maxi skirt can be used for a much fancier look. In this case, I opted for a black and white striped maxi with a little more fullness and detail, paired it with a dressier black top, and added wedges instead of flats. It’s the same basic idea as this other look, just taken to a whole other level.
urban floral
1/ sleeveless tank // 2/ floral jacket // 3/ embroidered midi skirt // 4/ contra pendant // 5/ boyd purse // 6/ mixed metal stacking rings // 7/ open toe booties
This outfit combines a lot of pretty feminine elements – an eyelet skirt, pale pink top, and floral print – but in a totally urban, edgy way, thanks to the cut of the jacket and the addition of some great chunky black leather heels.
outfit remix: embroidered little black dress for summer
1/ embroidered smock dress // 2/ contra statement necklace // 3/ straw clutch // 4/ woven strap sandals
I love how one outfit can inspire another. This outfit remix was inspired by another perfect little black dress for summer, but takes that dress’s subtle embroidery and makes it a distinctive element. I also swapped the single Contra necklace for a Contra statement necklace, because I’m a sucker for a big statement necklace layered over a patterned top. It’s next level pattern mixing that’s actually super easy to pull off!
summer date night
1/ ruffled georgette top // 2/ distressed boyfriend jeans // 3/ contra pendant // 4/ metallic straw clutch // 5/ mixed metal stacking rings // 6/ leather espadrilles
At it’s core, this is a pretty basic outfit. (Just jeans and a tank, which is pretty much always my go-to look.) But thanks to a fun print and ruffles, not to mention tossing on a pair of wedges, this whole outfit feels just fancy enough for a special summer date night.
