I recently got back from 10 days in Europe, and while I was there, I finally visited a place I’ve been dreaming about since I was 12 years old – Monet’s garden in Giverny! I was originally supposed to make this trip in 2020, but then 2020 happened, and three years later, I finally made it. And best of all, the poppies were in bloom while we were there, which is what I was hoping for!
the perfect black and white dress in Palm Springs
It’s been more than a month since I came back from Palm Springs but I’ve still got some images to share. Like this gorgeous black and white dress I picked up on the trip and then photographed myself wearing at my hotel with the Ada earrings.
Bringing travel home, part 2
On the last morning of my most recent trip to Palm Springs, I ended up taking a few pictures of myself in the pool of my hotel. This was partly to recreate some of my favorite pictures from my trip to Nevis, but partly because it was the perfect way to document my experience of the trip.
Palm Springs portraits
I spent the first week of February in Palm Springs. It was my first time on a plane since the start of the pandemic, which seems pretty appropriate because Palm Springs was actually the last trip I took before the pandemic started. (I was there about a week before everything in the US shut down.) A lot has changed since then – most notably my hair is MUCH longer – so I couldn’t resist recreating these images with the same kaftan and necklace, especially since I was staying at the same hotel.
Decorative metal dishes in detail at the Dwellbox Treehouse Village
Last week, my friend Amber and I headed to Dwellbox Treehouse Village in Ohio for a reading retreat. (You can read more about that here.) Of course, I couldn’t resist styling and photographing my new colorful decorative metal dishes in detail in such a gorgeous space!
Books and bowls: an art reading retreat at Dwellbox Treehouse Village
A couple of months ago, I saw a post on Instagram to the effect of “I really wish I could go on a vacation where we just read books all day and then get together at the end of the day to talk about them.” I sent it to my friend Amber with a “seriously, we should do this” and she responded back with “we should go here” and a link to another IG post of a treehouse-style cabin in the woods.
Which is how, on Monday, I found myself and Amber with a car full of books, snacks, and some of my new decorative dishes on our way to a cabin in the woods in Ohio.
Modular necklace in Palm Springs, part 1
Way back in March, right before the world shut down, I spent a very lovely week in Palm Springs. And while I blogged some of my favorite scenes from the trip, I got distracted and never shared the images I took of some of my jewelry while I was there! So I’m going to take a few days and share them now. (Better late than never, right?!?)
palm springs pics, part 3: color blocking in pink and green
It’s no secret that I’m super into pink and green right now. (And by right now, I mean since I started buying all the plants over a year ago.) So when I was walking around Palm Springs taking pictures of walls and hedgerows, this pink and green combo totally won out as my favorite.
And then of course I couldn’t resist looking for more combos of pink and green as I explored the city!
palm springs pics, part 2: color blocking in green and blue
One of the things that struck me most about my trip to Palm Springs was the sheer amount of hedgerows and privacy walls throughout the city. I’m sure there’s something deep I could say about privacy versus community, but the truth is, as a form of visual color blocking, I found them super inspiring.
And while I couldn’t see what was on the other side (for the most part), I think they still made for some pretty interesting photos. (So much so that I’ve got another post coming up with a different color blocked color palette, because in case you couldn’t tell, I’m super into color right now!)
palm springs pics, part 1: palm trees (I know)
I spent last week in Palm Springs, and while I was there for Alt Summit, I will admit I spent a decent amount of time playing hooky from the conference. The truth was, there was just so much visual inspiration throughout Palm Springs that I was quite happy just to walk around, take pics, and take it all in.
I shared many of my favorite pics in my Instagram stories, but I also wanted to share them here as well. Since I started my new line of colorful jewelry, I’ve been thinking of myself as someone who collects color palettes, and that theme definitely came through in my photo taking in Palm Springs.
