This weekend I went to visit my brother in Delaware, and while I was there he emerged from the yard with a bunch of tree trimmings and suggested we do an impromptu photoshoot. (It’s not as weird as it sounds, he’s a photographer and video marketer, so coming up with cool photoshoot ideas is what he does for a living!) So I grabbed one of my Contra Collection rings and this was the result:

new ring design + turning my studio into an urban jungle
Now that it’s starting to turn cold here, I’m feeling the need to turn my studio into even more of an urban jungle, inspired by my recent trip to Nevis and the gorgeous gardens there. (Though can you call your plant collection an “urban” jungle if you technically live in the country?)
Most of these plants started as a backdrop for this video, but have since ended up in my studio, as close to my workbench as possible! (While still allowing me to get out!)
seven unique pieces of jewelry to pack for your next tropical vacation
I’ve been sharing lots of images from my trip to Nevis in the Caribbean last month, but I thought it would be great if I really shared the jewelry I brought along for the trip! And what better way to share all that jewelry than with a video?!? (Which gave me the perfect excuse to do a little more plant shopping and styling, two of my favorite non-vacation activities and a perfect way to bring a bit of the trip home with me.)
Watch the video below for the jewelry I packed and what I love about each piece, then read on for links to all the jewelry in my online store!

tips for bringing the spirit of travel home after a trip

Which is why whenever I take a major trip, I always ask myself what elements of that trip I can incorporate into my every day life when I get home. After my first trip to India, that meant putting down my phone and taking in the scenery more when I’m riding in a car, as well as bringing more color, pattern, and textiles into my home and studio.
For my recent trip to Nevis in the Caribbean, bringing the trip home starts with this robe.
pool pics, take 2 and (literally) climbing a mountain
After my first photo shoot in the pool at Golden Rock Nevis turned out so well, I couldn’t resist giving it a second go, but facing the opposite direction. What you can’t see in this picture is that my arms were SHAKING to make this shot happen!
That’s because 1. I was shooting in the deep end of the pool and my feet couldn’t reach the bottom and 2. I had literally climbed a mountain the day before! This mountain, to be exact:
modeling my jewelry in paradise
A few weeks ago, I was invited on a spontaneous trip to the Caribbean, and since it just so happened to work perfectly in my schedule, I said yes. Which is how I found myself earlier this week standing on the veranda of my room at the Golden Rock Inn Nevis, remote shutter in hand, wearing this gorgeous dress with my Petale earrings and Fleurir necklace.
